Zoo

As part of our anniversary celebration, we went to the zoo with our parents. It was a wonderful day. The weather was nice. We only saw half of the exhibits, but we saw it all 5 years ago when we went to the zoo after our honeymoon. The animals were very active and out where we could see them. I can't post all the pictures because I usually take a lot when animals are around.

Happy Anniversary!

On a hot summer day (very hot) five years ago Simon and I stood in front of our family and friends and sweated like pigs, I mean we exchanged our vows. For those of you were not there let met tell you about the day. It was HOT, it was HUMID, and there wasn't a breeze to be found anywhere!!! But it was still a very special day that I will never forget. Happy Anniversary Simon! I love you just as much today as I did on that warm day on the lake.

Goodbye

Simon took Adam and Catherine to the train station on Monday morning. It was so sad to see them leave. We had such a good visit. If you notice in one of the pictures that Lexie had to give Adam a big kiss. Adam played with Lexie all week, she is going to spend all of this week resting. She has to rest up this week because Grandma and Grandpa Maddox will be here on Monday!!

Dan Nickolas Park

On Sunday Simon cooked us pancakes and sausages for breakfast and then we hung around the house and watched the Olympics. In the afternoon we went to Dan Nickolas Park for a little while. We started off at the petting barn. It sucks! Several years ago the petting area caught on fire and we have not been back since the new one has been open. You used to be able to go inside the fence with the animals and pet them. Now, you have to pet them through the fence, if they are close enough. I like the old one better. O, well. We walked around the lake and then got a drink. Catherine and I had Cheerwine Slushies! Before we left we played a round of mini golf. Simon won. It was a hard course.

The hay is always better on the other side of the fence.

We had to hurry home beause my parents were coming over for dinner and I didn't have anything ready. Just like me. Dinner turned out alright anyway.

Blowing Rock

Last Saturday we took Adam and Catherine to Blowing Rock. Adam has been once before but it was March and it was just over freezing. It was warmer this trip. We took a picnic lunch and ate at Price Park. We of course picked a table on the other side of the creek so we had to cross the creek to get to the table. We had a nice table across from a Lutheran group of Senior Adults. We got to hear most of their announcements. Cheap entertainment.
After we had lunch we drove up on the Parkway and across the Viaduct. It was a beautiful day! We took a short 'hike' (MA doesn't hike) on the Rough Ridge trail and took in the views from there. The views were amazing.

Then we walked around downtown BR for a while. It was different not having Lexie there with us. We ate an early dinner at the Six Pence Pub, one of our favorites.

After dinner we went by the outlets to do a little shopping. Of course we found some good deals. It was a long day out, but another good one.

New Colors

I had to change the background on the blog. The dull brown was starting to get to me. What do you think? I am not as advanced at blogging as some of you may be. I don't know where to find all the really cute backgrounds.

New Additions to the House

Having everyone coming to visit in August gave us a deadline for projects to do around the house. The major project was the laundry room. We removed the the old shelves and an big sink that was in there. We painted and put down new floors. We bought new cabinets and there is room for everything. There is an entire cabinet for Simon's golf clubs, cart, and shoes!! It is my new favorite room. Still to come are some new blinds and some nice curtains. I have posted before and after pictures. The before pictures are before we moved into the house, but you get the idea.

AFTER

We also bought a new couch. It is a sectional and it is RED. I never thought I would get a red couch, but I do like it. On each end it has recliners. They are nice.

Carowinds

Yesterday we all went to Carowinds for the day. The entire day. We left the house at 9am and returned at 11:20pm. We had a great time! When we arrived we saw a sign that said 'Welcome SC Baptist.' Great, there was a very large group of youth there. It was crowded and the lines were long. We rode several rides and then decided to head over to the water park to cool off some. Our favorite had to have been the Super Saturator. This is the ride where the people riding can drop water bombs on those below and the people below can shoot water at the people riding. It was great. We were already wet, so getting more wet was not a problem. The funniest part was the people were perfectly dry and got soaked!!! We stayed until the part closed and then headed home. We stopped in Concord to eat dinner about 9:30pm and eventually made it home.

Visitors

Adam and Catherine are here! We picked them up at the train station in Greensboro on Sunday night and of course the train was an hour late. Greensboro has a really nice station, by the way. We went to a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game. It was warm and there was no breeze. The Hoppers lost, but it was a fun evening anyway. I have posted some pictures from the ballpark.
