Simon goes Country!

Simon bought me tickets to see Brad Paisley in concert last weekend. It was great. We went to the ampitheater in Charlotte. With Brad Paisley was Julianne Hough (from Dancing with the Stars), Chuck Wicks (who was ok), and Jewel (who has just gone country). We had a great time. The weather was perfect. We had lawn seats and there was a nice breeze. Julianne Hough was really enjoyable to watch. I didn't know a lot of her songs, but she did a good job. Chuck Wicks was alright. Jewel was great. She played a lot of her older songs, plus a couple of new ones. She ended with her yodeling, which Simon missed because he went back for another beer. Darn. For yodeling it was very good. Then it was time for Brad Paisley. He was wonderful. Very entertaining. He changed guitars for every song and never took a break. Simon even enjoyed it and he was not that familar with any of the songs. I am always amazed by the people who spend money for tickets and then procede to get really drunk and don't get to see the person perform. I payed good money to see these guys perform, I want to be sober for it. Below are some pictures of the concert. Some of them might not be too clear, sorry.

Happenings of the weekend.

I know it is Wednesday, but I wanted to fill you in on what happened over the weekend. We will start with Friday afternoon. Simon decided he would mow the forest that our grass has turned into when he got home from work. He was outside for about 10 minutes before he came inside. I asked what was wrong and he said he had gotten stung or bitten by something. It looked like a sting. I told him to put ice on it. While he was standing in the kitchen he got stung again. He had found a nest of yellow jackets in the front yard. I know I have been stung before, but it has been many many years. He was in some pain. I asked if he was allergic to stings and he said he had never been stung before. We would find out soon if he were allergic. He's not. SO the yard did not get mowed on Friday.

Saturday we decided we would paint the laundry room before Simon had to go to work. We put the first coat of paint (Simon had already primed the walls). Simon went to work and I got ready for a Sunday School picnic at Finch Park. The picnic went really well. It did not rain and it was not too hot. Sunday was, of course, church. Simon has to close on Sunday too, so my mom and I put a second coat of paint on the laundry room. We had a brief storm on Sunday afternoon and lost power. Lexie and I went to my parent's house to have a dinner in which the main course was popcorn. Yummy.

So that was the weekend. I hope that all of you had a nice time as well. I will let you know what we do this weekend next week.

Happy 4th!

I hope everyone had a great Independence Day (those of you who celebrate). Simon had to work in the morning until about 5:30pm. I didn't do much all day. My mom and I went to Wall-Mart to do some grocery shopping. BAD IDEA! Well, going to Wall-Mart is never a good idea, but don't go on July 4th. There were so many people buying groceries and the employees decided to stock the shelves during the busiest time. Why? After Simon got off work we went to a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game. Lexie went to stay with my parents because she is not too fond of the fireworks. She doesn't mind the thunder, but she does not like fireworks. When Simon and I got to the game the only tickets they had left were for standing room only. We walked around for a little while then got our hot dogs. I saw a couple of empty seats and thought we could 'borrow' them while we ate. It seemed like everyone else around us 'borrowed' seats too, but they had to move because the real ticket holders showed up. It started raining pretty hard and people started to run under the shelters. Our seats stayed dry. We didn't have to move. After the game they had fireworks. They were great. We 'borrowed' the right seats. Lexie spent most of the night under a chair at my parent's house.
